testimonials April 2007 I would like to recommend Carlos Ruiz Checa for the many services he can provide. If one needs help at the Consulate, Immigration, or finding reliable workmen for the car or house, Carlos can help. In addition, he is a great help to people with medical problems. He is completely honest reliable, and punctual. He was a great help to me when my husband was hospitalized and subsequently passed away, showing great compassion and understanding. The day Jim died, I called Carlos immediately. He came at once and took care of the formalities, helping us with matters that I was too distressed to handle at that moment: contacting the Memorial Society and registering with the American Consulate. I can never thank him enough for all his kindness and help. Sharon M. April 2007 I fell and fractured my arm late one night in February. I managed to reach my phone and call Carlos, whom I had asked to be my emergency buddy. He came immediately and took charge. During the next two months, I relied on him completely as I was virtually helpless. It was a bad fracture. He took care of the activities of daily living I was unable accomplish myself. He also accompanied me to all my medical appointments, interpreting, and intervening with medical professionals when necessary. I always felt that my needs and interests were of primary importance to him. What impressed me most about him was his compassion and concern for my wellbeing, and his professionalism. I never felt embarrassed or discouraged that he had to do things for me I had always managed myself. Now I look back on what could have been a hellish experience, it seems almost enjoyable because through it all, I had an interesting, intelligent companion and a thoughtful caregiver. V.W.

March 2002 From: Art Wigdahl, Commander, American Legion Post 3 Subject: Recommendation of Carlos Ruiz Checa My four years of knowing Carlos has helped our American Legion post considerably. Carlos acted as middle-man in my dealings with Mexican contractors. He has helped me many times overcoming the language barrier. His work charges have been very cost-effective. His honesty and trustworthiness are beyond reproach, and he ahs willingly become a volunteer, helping us with our Orphans Christmas event in which we host 700 orphans annually. To whom it may concern: I have personally known Carlos Ruiz Checa for more than five years. Carlos has done a wide variety of projects for me. I know him to be versatile, intelligent, competent, resourceful and trustworthy. Carlos is extremely demanding of himself, as well as of anyone he supervises. I specifically know of several incidents where Carlos deferred payment or did not charge at all for his work, depending upon the financial condition of his client. Over the years, Carlos has also been retained by the American Legion Post 3 and the American Society of Jalisco. There is no better evidence of their satisfaction than the fact that they have hired him repeatedly. Bernard C.

April 1997 My father died in Guadalajara in March. I am the executor of his estate and therefore had to go to Guadalajara to bring his automobile and personal effects back to the United States. I know very little Spanish, do not know the roads, and am not accustomed to driving conditions in Mexico. A friend of my father’s at the American Society of Jalisco recommended Mr. [Ruiz] Checa. He told me that [Carlos] drives for a living and is very trustworthy, and speaks excellent English. I hired him Wednesday afternoon and he was ready to leave at 6:00 am the next morning. [Carlos] has been driving for approximately twelve years and has extensive knowledge of Mexico, the United States and other Latin American countries. I also discovered that he is a life-guard and certified in life saving techniques through the Red Cross. He also served as a wonderful traveling companion for me after losing my father. [Carlos] made my trip back to the United States very comfortable and I would highly recommend him. Pamela T. Grand Prairie, Texas
October 1997 To whom it may concern, During my trip to the United States last year, I decided to spend two weeks in Mexico which proved to be on of the best two weeks of my life so far. As I was only 22 years old and a female traveling alone, arriving in Guadalajara was an extremely daunting experience. I has no knowledge of the Spanish language and found it extremely difficult to feel comfortable walking around this foreign city alone. After discussing my feelings with the owners of my hotel, they kindly put me in touch with Carlos and informed me of his services to travelers such as myself. The three days I spent with Carlos were fantastic and I can honestly say that my trip would not have been half as memorable as it was if I had not come into contact with Carlos. Most of all, I enjoyed his company. His wisdom, kindness and generosity are rare and his persistence in making my trip as enjoyable as possible will never be forgotten. I would undoubtedly recommend his services to anyone and I cannot emphasize enough how valuable my three days in Guadalajara have been to me. I am eternally thankful to Carlos and hope many others will take the opportunity to experience such a wonderful city in the company of such a wonderful host. Alysia B. Australia

February 1993 To Whom it May Concern I met Carlos Ruiz in the fall of 1991. He was teaching Mayan and Mexican history at a special show I attended. Carlos was very pleasant and, patient and helpful with the planning of a 1992 vacation with my daughter. He helped us select the route, the lodging, English speaking guides, foods and specific places and ruins to see on our trip. I am so pleased to have been helped by Carlos and to continue seeing Carlos as a teacher of Mexican history. My daughter and I plan to go back to Mexico and will again be helped by his knowledge and recommendations. Rosan R.
December 1991 To Whom it May Concern Carlos Ruiz Checa is a tour guide based in Guadalajara, Mexico and I was given his name by a mutual friend. I hired Carlos to act as a guide on my recent trip to the Yucatan Peninsula in April of 1991. I found Carlos to be an excellent resource. November 1991 To Whom it May Concern Carlos [Ruiz] Checa is a knowledgeable and thorough tour guide whose services we benefited from on a trip to Mexico several years ago. We met Carlos in a hotel in Guadalajara. My wife, two daughters and I wanted to see the Mexican countryside and Carlos proposed a three-day itinerary through the Michoacan. He knew the area and its history and took us to many interesting places we would not have gone to on our own. Steve H. Pacific Grove, California
November 1991 To Whom it May Concern I was recently on vacation near Guadalajara at the resort Rio Caliente. A friend and myself had an opportunity to employ the guide services of Carlos Ruiz Checa for sightseeing in Tlaquepaque and Guadalajara. This was one of the highlights of my trip. Not only was he very gracious and congenial, he knew so much about the area that we would not have experienced on our own or with other tour services. He was very attentive to what our individual interests were for site seeing, shopping and dining. I was amazed at how much he knew about the various places and sites we went. He truly loves his country and reflected this throughout the day in his explanations and descriptions of the various settings. He assisted us in finding quality purchases for reasonable prices and was helpful with the language as well as using Mexican currency. I feel we got a true look at this beautiful city in Mexico. I think we would have wasted much time trying to find our way around and missed so much if we had not had Carlos with us. We recommended his guide services to many people who were staying at the same resort were. I highly recommend his services to anyone who would like make a visit to Mexico memorable and worthwhile. Susan D. Cambria, California.
